San Antonio 2021 Reunion

Postponed to October 2021
Disregard dates until updated

Our next reunion will be held in San Antonio, TX at the Westin Riverwalk Hotel from May 3rd to May 7th.   Our main event will be a western-themed Tex-Mex buffet on Thursday night, May 6th, followed by dancing to the sounds of Cactus Country.  Situated on the Riverwalk's quieter end, our upscale hotel is still an easy walk or river shuttle to all the attractions that San Antonio has to offer.  Our Hospitality Suite, which includes an outdoor patio, is at river level on the famed San Antonio Riverwalk (see picture below).

If you must make your reservations by telephone then please be prepared for the following and use patience during a new automated system which requires a couple of steps in order to talk to a real person.  Please follow the steps below and exercise patience as the  process can be quite frustrating for some:

  • Call Bonvoy Reservations at 1-888-236-2427
  • When prompted for a Bonvoy/Marriot Reward Number say NO
  • When asked whether you will take a survey say NO
  • When finally connected to a reservation agent (there may be delays) then inform them that you wish to make Group Reservations using the following information:

    • The nights that you wish to make your reservations.
    • The Group Code of either "FTG" or "Flying Tiger Line Pilots"
    • The type of room you want (City Side for $189 or River Side for $209)

We will play Five-card Poker with the first and last cards dealt in the Hospitality Suite and also at three fun bars in between. All participants will be given clues to navigate to each of the respective bars where a Tiger will issue your next poker card.  Oh, did I mention that each person ante's up with $10 at the start and best poker hand wins the pot! Official rules will be included in the December 1 Newsletter.

River Shuttles to The Pearl for Independent Dinners
Ticket Price Still To Be Determined

As a more informal group event, everyone will be encouraged to meet at The Pearl for dinner, drinks, and a good time at the restaurants of their choice on Wednesday  night.  Participants are responsible for their own transportation and for arranging their own dinner reservations.  Discounts are currently trying to be obtained.  Four Go Rio river shuttles will hopefully be chartered for those wanting to purchase seats on the 55 minutes one-way trip up the San Antonio River.  Currently we are unable to enter into a contact with Go Rio due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The repurposed Pearl Brewery is located only 2 miles north of the Westin and provides a unique experience as a top culinary and cultural destination. The mixed-use space features retail, dining, picturesque green spaces, a riverside amphitheater, and the third campus of The Culinary Institute of America. As a former brewery operating from 1883 to 2001, Pearl reflects a vivid past while embracing the future with environmentally sustainable buildings mixed with historic architecture.  At it's heart is the Hotel Emma, supposedly the only five-star hotel in Texas.  More information can be found by visiting https://atpearl.com/about
