Richard "Dick" Cole Peterson Jr., 51, died Feb. 16 at his Anchorage home. A memorial service was at St. James the Just Mission Church at Jewel Lake Parish. The Very Rev. Father Gene Huggins Archpriest officiated. A second memorial service was at Washington Memorial Park in Seattle.
Born July 19, 1942, in St. Helena, Ore., he came to Alaska in 1991. Mr. Peterson was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force who had served in Vietnam. He had been a pilot for Flying Tigers|Federal Express since 1969. His family said Mr. Peterson loved airplanes, "whether they were commercial, antique or models (remote and line controlled). He also enjoyed working with computers, fishing and clamming."
Mr. Peterson is survived by his mother, Adeline of Seattle; his son and daughter, Dennis and Sheree of Renton, Wash., his brother and sister-in-law, Walt and Barbara of Mount Vernon, Wash.; his sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Matt Plow of Marysville, Wash.; and his grandson, Aidan Hill of Oswego, Ore. Burial was at Washington Memorial Park Cemetery in Seattle. Arrangements were by Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary and Crematory.
