John F.”Dizzy” Dziubala

In Memoriam

November 3, 1939 - June 6, 2020

We're sadden to report the passing of yet another good Tiger, Captain John F. Dziubala, or "Dizzy" to all of us that were blessed enough to know him.  We received word from his son, Toby, that Diz passed away in Las Vegas on June 9th.  A good family man, he was also uncle to FTL Flight Attendant Donna Maziarka.  He leaves behind his wife Jonna (with Diz at right).

Born on 11/3/1939, Dizzy joined Tigers on 4/22/1965.  Interestingly, he was the very first pilot crewmember hired as a Second Officer with expectations of upgrading to the front seat.  He was a LAX B747 Captain on T-Day and continued flying for Federal Express where he retired on the MD11 approaching his 60th birthday.

The picture below is of Diz and his son, Toby, who would regularly attend reunions with his father.  Toby put together a wonderful video honoring Diz and had the following to say.

Hey there Tigers! So I decided to split Dizzy's memorial "tribute" into two parts. The first being a bit more reserved, and the second, well, you'll see 🙂 Anyway, the first one was finished this morning, and I'm almost done with the second one. This first one includes the service we had that I couldn't get the sound to work over the Internet. Excuse the organ music in the first minute... Diz had a strong penchant for large pipe organ music, I'm not trying to be melodramatic! I'm still taking stories and such over the phone for the second video, so if there's something you'd like to share, I'd love to chat with you. My cell is 702.580.0076. Anyway, I hope this first video brings you some peace and maybe even some joy. Hope everyone is healthy! Cheers!
