George L. Rimmer

In Memoriam

January 14, 1941 - November 4, 2019

George Lewis Rimmer passed away on November 4th, 2019.

George was born in January 14, 1941 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, spending most of his childhood in Seattle, WA. Upon graduating high school and completing several quarters at the University of Washington, George sought more adventure and enlisted in the United States Navy. On March 1st, 1962 George earned his wings which set a lifelong career in motion. George proudly served his country until 1971. After his service, he took up a career as a commercial pilot with the Flying Tiger Line, and later FedEx, until his retirement in 2001.

Along the way George built a family in Bellevue, WA and enjoyed lifelong friendships with fellow Tiger employees and community members. In his pastime, he was an avid duplicate bridge player, achieving the status of Life Master, and a marginal golfer, but loved the game nonetheless.

In retirement, George took pleasure in playing bridge, listening to blues, watching sports, traveling to Tiger reunions, and becoming a granddad. He is survived by his two sons, Brian and Aaron, their spouses, and 4 grandchildren, in addition to his brother, Don.

A memorial service will be held for George at 11AM on December 12, 2019 at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. The service is open to family and friends with a reception following.
