In Memoriam
July 11, 1943 - May 30, 2022
Captain Eric Albert Ermert II was born on July 11,1943 in Youngstown, OH, alongside identical twin brother Terry, to parents Eric Albert Ermert Sr. and Lee Pellegrini.
Upon graduating from Los Gatos High School in California, Eric received his Associates Degree in the Arts from San Mateo University, and then joined the United States Coast Guard; attending Mitchell College in Connecticut. . After completing his service he joined the ranks at Flying Tigers to begin an incredible flying career, where he would go on to experience many of the happiest years of his life. His career spanned over 40 years; rising to the rank of Captain at Federal Express. His exploits included flight missions during Desert Storm and the accumulation of over 21,000 hours of accident-free flying; a metric he was immensely proud to relay to any who would listen. He always said he had the greatest job in the world.
Eric had the best family in the known universe. He is survived by his lifelong partner in adventure, his wife Lida, their three beautiful children, Ivy, David, Phoebe, and his first born son, Eric, as well as his five grandchildren Dietrich, Conrad, Emil, Claire, and Sasha- all of whom he was tremendously proud of. He resided in Germantown, TN and Danbury, CT.
Eric was passionate about fixing cars and loved tinkering with his and his kid’s vintage Mercedes Turbo Diesels. He spent his life reading, learning and sharing his curiosities, studying natural medicine until the end. His unique genius, charisma, sense of humor and infinitely loving heart live on through his family.
Godspeed Dad / Eric, Godspeed! Until we are all home again, we’ll look for you in the sky. Say, “hi” to Uncle Terry. We love you.
Family will receive family and friends at 10:00 a.m. for graveside service, Monday, June 6, 2022 at West Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery.
