Brent Sensabaugh passed away at home, Saturday, Oct. 24, after a long, courageous battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. His wife, daughter and step daughter were at his bedside as he passed.

Brent was born on Feb. 6, 1942 to Carl and Opal (Jackson) Sensabaugh in Lancaster, Ohio. He graduated from Columbus West High School in 1960 and then attended The Ohio State University. Moving out west to California, he completed his education at Azusa Pacific College, graduating with a bachelor of arts in history.

After college, he flew C-124 Transports for the U.S. Air Force Reserves, including many combat missions to Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries during the Vietnam War. Brent's dreams of being an airline pilot came true in 1968 when he was hired by Flying Tiger Line as a flight engineer. He checked out as Captain in 1979, an accomplishment of which he was extremely proud. "Captain Brent" piloted stretch DC-8's, 727's and 747's for "Tigers" and the Airbus A-300 for FedEx until his retirement on Nov. 30, 2001. He had amassed over 18,500 hours of flying around the world.

In 1974 he moved with his family to Oxnard to be near the ocean and enjoy boating. He joined Channel Islands Yacht Club in 1976, where he remained an active member for over 30 years. Brent had a lifelong love for the American steam engine railroads and belonged to many aviation and railroad organizations and museums.

His life was in California but his heart never left his Ohio roots. College football meant only one thing, OHIO STATE BUCKEYES! His wife, Mary, and his daughter, Kelly, are proud to share his enthusiasm. Even during his last days, they didn't miss a game together.

Brent always thanked God that he was born in the USA & could fly for a living. He loved to don patriotic attire, and you could always find the USA flag waving in front of his home. Very seldom would you catch Brent without a smile on his face. That smile was always accompanied by a great big hearty "Brent" laugh, one that will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his daughter, Kelly Sensabaugh, step daughters, Barbara and Cheryl Allen and step grandson, Andrew. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews in central Ohio, and countless friends.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Boy Scouts of America or the Salvation Army.

A memorial service will held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park. Another service will be held in Ohio for friends and family residing there.
